Obituary for Melba Marlene Neece

Neece, Melba Marlene, retired Military Government Contract Processor with Cessna Aircraft for 34 years was born February 21, 1941 in Wauchula, Florida. She went to be with the Lord Thursday, November 18, 2010.

Visitation Sunday 2-8 p.m., family receiving friends 2-4 at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Funeral service 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, 1020 N. 2nd St., Mulvane.

Preceded in death by her parents, Van and Lenore Simmons and half-brother, Ronald Van Simmons. Survivors are son Roger Van Neece of Mulvane, grandchildren Victoria and William Neece, also of Mulvane; one sister, Sarah Elizabeth Carroll of Sebring, FL, niece Teresa and nephew Michael; step-daughter, Janet (William) Harper of Fort Worth, TX; step-granddaughters Coelle (Billie) Deaton and Amber (Kary) Harshbarger; step-great-granddaughters Tinuviel, Luthien, and Scarlet Rae.

Melba was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church where she was saved and baptized at age 9. Her family activities revolved around the church, Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday evenings.

Melba lived in Florida until age 20 when she moved to El Paso, Texas. She was employed as personnel manager at S.S. Kresgge. In 1964 Melba married Gerald and moved to rural Mulvane. She has been a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Mulvane for 45 years.

A memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church in Mulvane.
