Obituary for Helen Maurine Soft

DERBY – Soft, Helen Maurine, age 85, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at her home in Derby. She was born May 23, 1926 in Plains, KS the daughter of Fred Dee and Clara (Donker) Adams. On August 16, 1946 she married Gene Allan Soft of Pretty Prairie. He preceded her in death on February 12, 1991. They were married 44 years. She was a resident of Wichita from 1946 to 1972 then moving to Pretty Prairie, KS until 1992. After her husband died she moved back to the Wichita and Derby area, where her 3 children lived. Visitation 1-8pm Friday with family present 6 - 8 pm, Smith Mortuary, 1415 North Rock Rd, Derby; Graveside service 2 pm Saturday, Lone Star Cemetery, Pretty Prairie, KS. She was preceded in death by her three brothers Harold “Pete”, Alvin, and Eddie; three sisters Esther Wedel, Mildred Soft, and Pauline Hinsdale. Survivors: son; Ron (Gail) Soft, Wichita, KS, two daughters; Debby (Miles) Millspaugh, Derby, Sandy (Jim) Schneiter, Derby, sister; Darline Virgo, Lee Summit, MO; 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren (with one on the way); and several nieces and nephews.
