Gloria Anne Cline, 95, passed away August 18, 2020 at Glen Carr House in Derby, KS. She was born April 25, 1925, in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of James Herman and Bertha Lorene (Cooper) Hayes. Gloria spent her childhood in Emporia and graduated from Emporia High School in 1943. She soon moved to Wichita to work at Boeing Aircraft during World War II and continued her career as an electronic technician at Boeing for 35 years. She married Ray Cline on May 5, 1945, in Emporia. They made their home in Wichita where Alan Ray, their son, was born on January 21, 1947. Gloria and Ray celebrated 67 years of marriage before Ray passed in 2013. Gloria was a long-time member of the Wichita First Church of the Nazarene. She was a member of the church choir for many years and led the teen choir as well. She was active in the women’s Missionary Club. Gloria’s hobbies and activities over the decades were many and included competitive shooting with pistols and rifles. She was an NRA member with many medals. She enjoyed camping and fishing with family. They owned three motorhomes in her lifetime and made almost two decades of seasonal trips to California to be with family. She also enjoyed travel in the air with husband Ray’s plane. Traveling sometimes for the day or as long as two weeks to various destinations, including two trips to the Bahamas. She was always ready to go. Music was a big part of her life. She played the violin, oboe, flute, and harmonica. She lived a full and rich life doing the things that she loved. In addition to her parents and her husband, Gloria was predeceased by her brothers, Warren and James, and Dale, and a sister, Barbara. Surviving are her son, Alan of Fresno, California, one brother, Rodger Hayes (Patty) of Mountain View, California; three grandchildren, Tonya Riggs (Mike) of Clovis, California, Danelle Cline-Elliott (Jimmy) of Santa Cruz, California, Christopher Cline of Sanger, California; six great grandchildren Tanner Riggs, Trevor Riggs, Tobin Riggs, Evan Elliott, Avery Cline, and Zachary Cox; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
