Obituary for Gary Lee Maricle

Maricle, Gary Lee, (the miracle man) 59 passed away on Sunday June 14, 2015 at his home after a long battle with cancer. Visitation: 1-8, June 18 with the family to greet from 6-8 at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N Rock Rd, Derby. Funeral: 10 am on Friday, June 19 at Word of Life North Church at 3811 N. Meridian, Wichita. Gary graduated from Derby High and went to work at Boeing for 25 years. He was then employed at Spirit until his death as a machinist. Gary valued his family above all things, he was determined to battle cancer to provide for family and survived two more years than then he was given. He left behind his wife, Linda Maricle and his children, Orlando Romero and daughter in law Staci Romero, Derby, daughter, Sherene Grizzle, Wichita, mother Betty Maricle; his grandchildren were cherished and loved by their “Pa” Gary; Makayla Grizzle, Michael Hughes, Brianna Hughes and Raymond Romero. He is also survived by his two sisters Lori Ann Maricle, Haysville and Cathy Ann Knabe and brother in law Otis Knabe, Derby he is preceded in death by his father, Freddy Maricle in 2001 and his brother, Lee Maricle. He will loved and missed by many other relatives who were blessed to have this kind and loving man in their lives. Gary loved to learn all he could about the civil war and it was one of his many hobbies, he also loved restoring his 1970 Chevelle. He was an avid golfer, for many years he played at L.W. Clapp Golf course winning many golf tournaments. Gary also attended school to learn how to make and repair golf clubs, he produced many sets for friends and family. Gary family says to him, “Goodbyes are not forever, Goodbyes are not the end, They simply mean I’ll miss you until we meet again.”
