Wilma Jean Austin

Austin, Wilma Jean 95, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at her daughters residence in Columbia, Missouri. She was born December 6, 1925, to William A. Alley and Katherine Berger Alley in Rose Hill, Kansas. She was employed as a secretary at USD 260 Board of Education and with General Motors Acceptance Corporation.

Wilma was a woman of faith and was an early member of the Derby Church of Christ. She also loved art and travel. She combined these activities by painting many scenes from her extensive travels in Europe and the United States. She was a member of the Kansas Watercolor Society and the Missouri Watercolor Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Austin and her brother, John Mark Alley. Wilma is survived by her daughters Rita (Joe) Urso, Dallas, TX, Terry Austin, Columbia, MO, and grandson Scott Read, Little Elm, TX. She is also survived by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.


Graveside Service: 10:00 am, Monday, December 21, 2020 at El Paso Cemetery, Derby. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at 347 S. Laura. Wichita, KS 67211
