William “Bill” Humphries passed away in his home on December 27th, 2016 following a five year battle with cancer (Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma). Bill was a constant source of joy in the lives of his friends and family for 42 years. Bill brought a whole new level of intensity to everything that he did whether he was riding motorcycles, driving cars or playing golf, he was sure to entertain. His infectious smile and genuine kindness warmed the hearts of everyone around him. Bill was preceded in death by his father Wilbur F. Humphries (Mulvane). He is survived by his wife, Carrie Humphries (Mulvane) and daughter Amaya (16 –Mulvane), his son Keenon (14 – Bartlesville, OK), his mother Connie Humphries (Derby), his sister Christie Humphries (Austin, TX), his half sisters Marsha Murray (Wichita) and Nancy (Adrian) Rodgers (Haysville), and his beloved bulldog Putter. Bill graduated from Mulvane High School in 1993 and received his Associate of Arts degree from Cowley County Community College in 2002. He worked for many years in the aircraft industry and for UPS in Wichita. He was an avid golfer and member of the Men’s League at Derby Country Club, a member of Pine Bay Golf Course, and Hidden Lakes Golf Course in Derby where he learned to play with his father Will many years ago. Friends and Family are invited to his viewing Friday, December 30th from 1 to 8pm. Family will be available to greet guests on Friday from 6 to 8pm. Services will be held on Saturday, December 31st at 2pm, both at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 North Rock Road, Derby, KS 67037. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Rivercross Hospice, 800 Main Street, Suite 208, Winfield, KS 67156.
