William C. "Bill" Fuchs

May 14, 1930 — April 16, 2022

William C. Fuchs, 91, passed away at Glen Carr House Assisted Living Facility in Derby, KS on April 16th, 2022. He was the second of three children born to Andrew and Rachel (Williams) Fuchs. Growing up in Wichita, Bill attended Irving Elementary, Horace Mann and John Marshall Intermediate, and North High School, graduating class of '48. He then joined the Navy and was off to see the world. His ship was the USS Rochester. He served during the Korean Conflict, and did get to see some of the World! After 5 years in the Navy, he returned to Wichita to finish college at WU, living at the Alpha Gamma Gamma House, building a forever relationship with his fraternity brothers, and meeting his future wife Ann Fahnestock. Bill and Ann married July 23rd, of 1955, and had two children, Karl and Karrie. Their home was Wichita, later moving to Derby, KS. Bill was employed at Fahnestock Heating and Air, later becoming a division of Airtron, from 1956 to 1986. They purchased property on Beaver Lake in Arkansas in 1968, and later built their retirement home there. They also traveled, seeing more of the world. Traveling much of the US as well as Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, Germany, and

so much more. Switzerland being their favorite! They were a sporty, competitive couple. Among their favorite activities were, playing golf, tennis, bridge club, hiking, running,water skiing, and snow skiing. Their favorite memory was of snow skiing the

Matterhorn! They retired to their home on Beaver Lake in 1987, living there, traveling, entertaining friends and family, until returning to Derby, KS in 2002. Ann was always an active member of the Episcopal Church, the most recent being Derby's St. Andrew Episcopal Church. Bill organized a once a month fraternity brother luncheon, the Gamma lunch, where his fraternity brothers could meet and share old stories, as well as current events. What a life they had! Bill was preceded in death by his wife Ann, parents Andy and Rachel, sister Carolyn, and brother Andrew. He is survived by; son Karl (Carrie) Fuchs of Wichita, 2 grandsons Ben (Jessica) Fuchs and great granddaughter Quinn, Adam Fuchs, all of Wichita, daughter Karrie (Norman) Jackson of Mulvane, 2 grandchildren Andrew (Amanda) Jackson, 4 great grand children Izaiah, Ivy Jackson, Layla and Nathaniel Meier of Derby, Mulvane, KS, Jamie (Luis) Crespo and two great granddaughters Isabella and Sofia Crespo of Dallas, TX, 14 nieces and nephews and their families!

Bill and Ann loved their grandchildren and great grandchildren. They also appreciated their Glen Carr House Assisted Living team who cared for both of them in their time of need. Bill especially appreciated family taking him out for breakfast, and

the great grandkids coming to visit, saying it made him feel young again. Celebration of Life will be held at Smith Family Mortuary, Mulvane, KS, Friday, June 3rd, at 11 am. There will be a 12 pm reception/lunch following, same location. Dual

burial for both Ann and Bill will be at 3 pm, at the near by Derby Hill Crest Cemetery,10102 E. 95th St S.
