Willard F. Leslie, MSGT (Retired), 88, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016. He was born July 31, 1927 in Damascus, AR. Willard joined the U.S. Army Air Force in 1946. He was stationed in Japan from 1946 to 1949 and then returned home to Conway, AR. In 1950, Willard was recalled to the U.S. Air Force where he served at Biggs AFB for 1 year. He married Imogene Daves on January 12, 1952. Willard moved to Wichita later that year and worked at Boeing until 1955 as a Drag-Chute Rigger and Repairman for the B-47 and B-52. He joined the Kansas Air National Guard in 1955 and served as the NCOIC of Personal Equipment & Parachute with the 184th until his retirement in 1985. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Leslie; mothers, May Murray and Bertha Elmo Hankins; and brothers, Bill and Earl Leslie. Willard is survived by his wife of 64 years and 22 days, Imogene Leslie; children, Willard “Keith” (Dana) Leslie and Barbara Jean Leslie; grandchildren, Tressa, Leslie, Torre, and Richard; great-grandchildren, Corrine, Zachary, Rachel, Natalie, Rogan, Aaden, Garrett, and Collin; and brothers, Carlton (Geraldine) Leslie, Charles (Linda) Leslie, and Donald (Fern) Leslie. Visitation: Monday, 3 to 8 pm with family present between 5 and 7 pm. Funeral: 1 pm, Tuesday, February 9, 2016; both at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby, KS 67037. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
