Wilbert James Simmons, age 85, of Mulvane, retired USAF SSGT, and retired Cessna employee, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017. Visitation1-8 PM Thursday, May 25, Funeral Service 10 AM Friday, both at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Graveside service 2 PM Friday, Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence, KS. He is preceded in death by his stepson, Melvin Dean "Ricky" Howell. Survivors include: wife, Ilean; stepson, James Howell, Bentonville, AR; step-grandson, John Howell, of Tucson, AZ.
