Wanda Payne

November 23, 1936 — July 22, 2025

Wanda Roberta Payne, 88, of Wichita, Kansas, left her earthly home for a heavenly one on July 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 23, 1936, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Richard Riley and Enolia Womack (Cole).

She was a devoted mother to Rick, Lynne and Robyn, and a loving wife to Tom. Wanda will be remembered for her fierce and unselfish dedication to those that she loved, and she loved deeply and unconditionally. She was happiest surrounded by family and demonstrated her love for them through her home and hospitality. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a constant source of joy and pride.

Wanda was a bookkeeper for Conrady Western, a John Deere dealership, for 20 years, but her greatest fulfillment was in being a homemaker in the deepest sense of the word. She delighted in working in her garden and in her kitchen and in providing a home and sanctuary for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Saundra Riley, Diana Allen, and Judy Bauchmoyer; granddaughter, Shelly Payne-Roeder.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Tom Payne; children, Rick (Peggy) Payne; Lynne (Dean) Zortman, and Robyn (Darin) Mabe; sisters, Freida McMahon, and Donna Minton; grandchildren, Christina (Shawn) Patrick, Angie (Jason) Gregory, Richard (Claire) Payne, Matt Carter, Andy (Michelle) Mabe, Levi Mabe, Mandee (Hayden) Veach, and Caity Payne; great-grandchildren, Sierra, Heather, Allie, Blake, Luke, Mercedes, Ethan, Jordan, Rainey, Jack, Graham, Emmet, Hayden, Maddox, Jaxon, and Hawklin; and great-great-grandchildren.
