Virginia Jean Warren

Virginia Jean (Kastens) Warren, age 87, passed away peacefully from this world to her eternal home May 17, 2016. She was born in Anthony, Kansas to Howard and Florence Kastens. Virginia married Ray Warren of Anthony, September 1, 1949. She then moved to Derby and became a member of St. Mary Parish in 1955, where she spent 61 years. She was always a loving, devout wife and mother who will be greatly missed. She spent her last days on earth at home surrounded by loved ones after being diagnosed with lung cancer in April. Her kind heart and wonderful laughter have instilled lasting memories in the heart of family and friends. The one thing she asked God for was a good death. Her prayer was answered with Gods perfect plan and was able to talk and joke with her family the evening of her death. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Ray. Virginia is survived by her children, Chuck Warren, Curt (Lori) Warren, Donna (Steve) Dutton, Carl (Karen) Warren, Danny (Alisa) Warren, Pam Warren, all of Derby; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren with the 24th due in a few weeks. Every one of us love and appreciate her involvement in our lives. She spent many happy moments at home and the farm, trips to Branson with family and friends, as well as many hours of cards with the girls. Recitation of the Rosary 7pm Thursday, May 19; Funeral Mass 10:30am Friday, both at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2300 E. Meadowlark, Derby. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is with the church building fund and Center of Hope 400 N. Emporia Ave. Wichita, Ks 67202.
