Virginia Rising

Virginia Kay Rising, 76, a devoted mother, grandmother and wife passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025. She was born December 27, 1948 to Walter and Etta Wilhoit in Smithville, Missouri.

Virginia was an animal lover, enjoyed puzzling and playing board games with her family, watching Disney movies, crocheting, gambling, coloring, watching her soap operas, collecting Elvis memorabilia and watching birds.

Preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Waltlin Lynn, Arlette Tennant, Darrel Wilhoit, Joyce Wilhoit, Walter Wilhoit.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years Robert; children, Tony (Cindy) Rising, Steve (Brandi) Rising, Robyn Rising, Shelly (Jarrod) Wharry; grandchildren, Jesse, TJ, John, Harlee, Monica, Tyler, Emily, Abigail, Sam, Syrus, Ali, Thai, Taylor, Kayleigh, Dakota; great-grandchildren, Amelia, SJ, Oaklynn, Kiya, Kalihan, Ashton and Cyruss.

Visitation with family is 1:00 to 2:30 pm, Monday, January 5, 2025 at Smith Family Mortuary, 501 E Louis Blvd, Mulvane, KS 67110 followed by a 3:00pm graveside service at Mulvane Cemetery, East 119th St S, Mulvane, KS 67110.
