Virginia Lee Misak, 82, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away Tuesday May 12, 2020. She was born November 22, 1937 in Burden, KS, the daughter of Alonzo and Leota Bolte. The family moved to Caldwell, KS, where she attended Caldwell High School, where she participated in many high school activities and was a cheerleader and twirler for the marching band.
While in high school she met her husband of 54 years, Dean Misak. They had four children, Kent, Greg, Julie, and Angi. Some of their fondest memories growing up were her being a Boy Scout leader for Kent’s troop, PTA president of Munger grade school, square dancer with her big cancans. She loved animals. Greg and Angi bringing a stray animal
home and her saying “oh no” but always let them keep it. She loved taking the kids to the drive-
in with a big bag of popcorn and drinks, the skating rink, swimming pool, and Joyland Amusement Park. She would make homemade ice cream and she’d sit Julie on a blanket on the ice cream maker while Dean cranked the ice. It was so good!
She also enjoyed card games with friends and family on Friday nights. Pitch was her favorite card game but would pretend not to know how to play poker then take your money with a big ol’ smile on her face. One of her hobbies was to re-arrange her furniture and she had a knack for decorating. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she would light up every inch of the house inside and out. The 4th of July was for lighting up sparklers and watching the big boomers.
She worked at The Model in Park Lane shopping center and was always a fashionista. She worked a few different jobs but one that made her jump was working at a liquor store. It was located next to a reptile store. On one evening a large snake had escaped and went into the commode and ended up in the liquor store! She was always checking the bathroom before entering after that!! She took it with a laugh and a chuckle as she did with most things in her life. She loved a good joke and pulling pranks and was known as the fastest ice cream cone licker in town! Virginia enjoyed Thursday night bowling with Julie, boat rides, vacations to the lake, and many trips to Texas.
She was blessed with 8 grandchildren: Jason, Jamie, Josi, Jodi, Amanda, Nicole, Jessi, and Luke. She spent many hours making sure they were spoiled rotten. Grandma Ginny was and always will be very special to them. She very seldom missed a baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, soccer game, event or birthday they had. All knew if they needed a good meal grandma Ginny was willing to cook it. She was known for her fried chicken, but at Christmas everyone knew she would burn the rolls. Those rolls were tossed across the room like baseballs! Everyone would laugh and she would put more in the oven. Grandma Ginny loved to play board games with the grandkids on their many sleepovers. Luke was accustomed to her serving him pancakes in bed while they watched Looney Tune cartoons. She always had hugs and kisses for each and every one of them.
Virginia’s great grandchildren: Alexxis, Dominic, Jordon, Javen, Colten, Emonii, Jayden, Cristiana, Devin, Jali, Jada, Averi, Tyson, Reece, Canon, Carsynn, Evelynn Jo, Tegan, Lawson, and Maverick cherished Grandma Ginny. All knew they could drop in and have a warm welcoming every time. Her great-great grandchildren are: Jaxx, Zailee, Romeo, and Analyse.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Dean, son Gregory, daughter Angi, parents Alonzo and Leota Bolte, and granddaughters Josi and Amanda.
She is survived by her son Kent Misak, daughter Julie and husband David Wilkey, 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, brother Jim (Beth) Bolte, brother in-law Dr. Eldon (Nikki )Misak, sisters in-law, Marilyn Misak and Nancy Misak, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Virginia didn’t know a stranger. She was a beautiful lady with a sparkle in her blue eyes. Her infectious smile and laugh would light up a room. She loved sitting on the front porch with family and friends (always with make-up on and hair just right!). Everyone that knew her loved her and will be dearly missed by all.
Memorial services to be held at a later date.
