Virginia Beatrice Wever Cox, age 86 died peacefully March 12, 2014. Virginia was born on March 14, 1927, in Wilson County, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Opal and Hobart Wever, her sister, Betty Marie Wever Burress, and the love of her life, her husband Paul Edward Cox. She graduated from Benedict High School, and continued her education at the Wichita Beauty School. Virginia was a member of the V.F.W., the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, the United Methodist Church, both in Lincoln and Derby, Kansas, and was an active member of the church thrift shop programs both in Lincoln and Derby. She worked at the Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, and often volunteered at the Methodist Church here in Derby. Virginia is survived by her children: Judith (John) Smith of Derby, Kansas, and Paula (James) Cole from Greenville, Wisconsin. Grandchildren are: Stephanie Lowry of Derby, Kansas; Robin (Frank) Hladik of Mulvane, Kansas; Heidi (Emiliano) Hernandez of Wichita, Kansas; Britnee Cole of Iowa City, Iowa; Carissa (Nicholas) Coorough of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Great-grandchildren are: Dylan Nay of Lawrence, Kansas; Ryan Hladik of Derby, Kansas; Ashlyn Nay, and Mallory Hladik of Mulvane, Kansas; Tiahna Hernandez of Wichita, Kansas; and Morgan, Courtnee, and Preston Lowry of Derby, Kansas. A life celebration will be held at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Road, in Derby, Kansas at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, with Rev. Alan Lindal officiating. Burial will take place at Farmington Cemetery, near Fredonia, Kansas at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
