Virginia Ruth Alley

DOUGLASS – Alley, Virginia Ruth, age 88, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017. Virginia was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, always giving of herself through teaching and her excellent cooking. She was a gifted artist using paints and flowers as her mediums.

Her greatest achievement was as a grandmother. She loved all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and never missed an activity, whether it was a musical or sporting event that they were involved in.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Edna Dunnell; husband, Lawrence Alley; son, Scott Jones; brothers, Bill, Don, Howard and James Dunnell; sisters, Jean Bielby and Marie Owen.

Virginia is survived by her children, Polly (Alan) Bloom, Sheryl Braungardt (Randy Cox), Larry (Sondra) Alley, Terry (Cheryl) Alley, and David (Linda) Alley; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Gloria (Warren) Sickles.

Memorial graveside service 10:30 am Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Douglass Cemetery. Memorial has been established with Douglass Public Library, 319 S. Forrest St., Douglass, KS 67039.
