Vernon E. Timmons

On Friday, November 11, 2022, Vernon E. Timmons of Rose Hill, Kansas, loving husband and Dad, went to be with his loving heavenly Father. He was 86 years old.

Vern was born on October 17, 1936 in Neodesha, KS to Vernon (Ben) and Evelyn Timmons. Vernon graduated from Rose Hill High School in 1955. He served in the United States Navy Sea Bees from 1956 – 1960, where he completed training and certification in welding. Vernon was a mechanic for Knebler Construction for 25 years. On June 23, 1962, he married Joy Brown. They raised two children. Vern had a passion for all sports. He officiated football and basketball games, as well as coaching Little League.

Vernon was preceded in death by his father Ben, mother Evelyn, and brother Larry. He is survived by his wife Joy, son Stephen, daughter Susanna, granddaughter Courtney, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, November 21, at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby, KS. A memorial has been established with the Kansas Humane Society.
