Vernon Coy "Vern" McQuilliams, of Derby, age 88, loving husband, father and grandpa, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011. Visitation 1-8 PM Wednesday with family receiving friends 5-7 PM, Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd. Funeral service 10 AM Thursday, Calvary Baptist Church, 7600 E 63rd St. He was a WWII Army veteran and was part of the Normandy invasion. Vern was a retired aircraft inspector and an elementary school custodian in Derby. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Estelle; son, Rod, parents, Arthur & Willie; 4 brothers & 2 sisters. Survivors: wife, Elizabeth, Derby; brothers, Hank and Larry (Arvella,), Wichita; sisters, Toni (Jerry) Wilson, Mulvane, Alma (Bill) Sikes, Bronson, FL; daughters, Verna Roth, Wichita, Darla (Mike) Moore, Las Cruces, NM; stepsons, Mickey Hollis, Derby, and Steve (Sue) Crouse, Rose Hill; granddaughters, Colene (Gordon) Marshall, Elka Roth, Bambi Champ, Lori (Jason) Campbell; step-grandchildren, David (Kim) Birt, Angela (Larry) Haug, Marie (Chip) Finney, Rebecca (Brett) Perrymore; 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces & nephews.
