Vernon Helton

Wichita - Helton, Vernon (Tiny) Helton 95, died Saturday, March 9, 2024. He was born March 31,1928 in Sun City, KS to William and Rachel Helton.


He served in the US Army and fought in the Korean War. Later he moved to Wellington, Kansas where he worked at the local flour mill. Outside of work, Tiny loved going on trips to Fall River to fish with his siblings and friends. He also enjoyed dancing, playing shuffle board, and listening to Hank Williams Sr songs. He was a prankster in every way. Ultimately, Tiny loved to make people laugh. He was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.


He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rachel Helton; brothers, Bill Helton, Harold Helton, and Darrel Helton; daughter, Tanya Higgins.


Vernon is survived by his daughter, Terri Johnson of Derby, Kansas; sister, Darlene Gibson and her husband Gail of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren: Lance Langley of Wichita, Kansas; Logan Johnson of Derby, Kansas; Jennifer Witham (Gary) of Wellington, Kansas; Johanna Weir (Josh) of Nowata, Oklahoma; Jennoa Higgins of Wichita, Kansas; Jaron Higgins of Wichita, Kansas; great-grandchildren: Peyton Witham of Lenexa, Kansas; Tatum Witham of Wichita, Kansas; Lexie Langley of Derby, Kansas; Lakota Langley of Derby, Kansas; Addilyn Weir of Nowata, Oklahoma; and Maxton Weir of Nowata, Oklahoma.


Graveside Service: 2:00 pm, Friday, March 15th, 2024 at Highland Cemetery Medicine Lodge, KS.
