Vera Lou Long

Vera Lou Long, of Mulvane, 86, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016. She was born April 30, 1929 in West Plain, MO to Virgil and Minnie (Thompson) Holt. While living in Coffeyville, KS, Vera owned Long’s Flower Shop and Long’s Creations and was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was the Sunday School Director and Choir Leader. Vera became a member of the First Baptist Church of Mulvane after moving to the area 5 years ago. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Wayne Long in 2006. Vera is survived by her daughters, Janie (Dave) Spear, Joy (Bart) Turner, and Janet (Frank) Rodriguez; grandchildren, Eric (Dori) Turner, Kerrie (Travis) Wike, Jill Turner, Jonathan Spear, Leah (Curtis) Looper, Joshua Rodriguez, Trong Turner, Hannah Rodriguez, and Olivia Turner; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Clifford Leon Holt; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Sunday, 6 to 8 pm. Funeral: 10 am, Monday, May 2, 2016; both at Smith Family Mortuary, 501 SE Louis Blvd., Mulvane, Kansas 67110. Committal to follow at 3 pm at Restlawn Cemetery, 2000 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, KS 67337. Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church, 416 W 2nd St, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
