Velma Darlene Boone

Velma Darlene Boone, 86, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013. Visitation 1-8 p.m. Thursday (family present 5-7), at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Funeral service 10 a.m. Friday, at Pleasantview Baptist Church, 1335 N. Buckner, Derby. Velma was born January 31, 1927 to Howard and Hazel Estep in Howard, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Ray Boone; her parents, one brother and one sister. Survived by children Janet (Jerry) Fager, Carolyn (Bob) Eckhardt, Myrna (Russ) Allen and Lori (Russ) Armstrong; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; sister Juanita Miller and half-sister Pam Hobbs. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
