Truman Ware, Loved Father, Brother, Uncle, and Best Friend, graduated into the Cosmos on May 9, 2023.


Truman was born on December 13, 1937, in the Kiowa Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma. His parents were Harvey Lee Ware, of the Kiowa Nation, and Priscilla Ware, of the Kiowa Apache Nation, both deceased. He was married to Jo Ann Ware for 53 years, and they had two sons: Anthony and Michael, and one grandson, Zackery.


Truman's parents moved to Wichita when he was 3 years old, and they settled in Planeview. Truman's father worked at Boeing during World War II. Truman attended school in Planeview, and graduated from Planeview High School.


Truman was employed at Boeing Aircraft Company, Coleman Company, and then worked 30 years for the Sedgwick County Civil Engineering Department retiring in 2002. He also worked part time for the Cook, Flatt, and Strobel Engineering Company.


Truman was involved with the Mid America All Indian Center from the early 1970's until 2000. There he served as Chairman of the Board, and also on the Board of Trustees.


Truman met Black Bear Bosin when he was 16 years old in 1954, and Mr. Bosin served as his mentor until his death in 1980. Black Bear sensed that Truman had the skills to become a silversmith. Truman worked as a silversmith for the majority of his life.


Sedgwick County requested permission to use the "Keeper of the Plains" as their Sedgwick County seal. Mrs. Nola Bosin gave permission to Truman to design the logo for the county. The Seal is used on all Sedgwick County buildings and vehicles throughout Sedgwick County.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann; parents, Harvey and Priscilla, son, Anthony; grandson, Zackery; brothers, Travis and Tyrell.


Truman is survived by his son, Michael; Sisters, Trula Ware Bohannon, Travene Ware Starcher; numerous nieces and nephews.
