Timothy Jon Anderson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, departed from this world on March 9th, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Timothy, affectionately known as "Tim" to those closest to him, was born on April 29, 1954, in Barstow, California, to Virgil Lars and Geneva June Anderson. His early years were marked by the warmth of California's sun before his family relocated to Mulvane, Kansas, where he spent the majority of years of his life.
Growing up in Mulvane, Tim was known for his indomitable spirit and unwavering determination. Despite facing challenges, he pursued his education with diligence, ultimately earning his GED. His resilience and perseverance would become defining traits throughout his life's journey.
In 1972, Tim answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Air Force. During his four years of service, he served as a dental technician and specialist, forging lifelong friendships and gathering stories that would be cherished for years to come.
Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1976, Tim returned to Mulvane, where he embarked on a journey that would lead him to his true passions. It was during his time working as a clerk at the Quik Trip in Derby that he met the love of his life, Tammie. Their bond was instant, and they were united in marriage on December 7th, 1979, a date Tim whimsically chose to ensure he never forgot their anniversary.
Tim's career path led him to Raytheon Aircraft Company, where he became deeply involved in the machinist union. He served as a Union Steward until his retirement, advocating tirelessly for the rights of his fellow workers. He was known for his passion for union work and was always seen wearing his union shirt with pride.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Tim's greatest joy lay in his family. He and Tammie welcomed their son, Thomas James, in May of 1981, and their daughter, Tiffany June, in April of 1983. Tim embraced his role as a father with unwavering devotion, instilling in his children the values of integrity, compassion, and resilience.
The family settled in Belle Plaine, Kansas, before returning to Mulvane in 1990, where they created countless memories in the Anderson family home. In 2018, Tim and Tammie embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Fort Worth, Texas, where they built a home filled with love and laughter.
Tim's heart was heavy with the loss of his mother, Geneva June, in September 1990, and his father, Virgil Lars, in May 1991. He also mourned the passing of his brothers, Paul David and Alan Virgil, each loss leaving a void in his heart that could never be filled.
Tim found solace and joy in his role as a grandfather. His grandchildren, Bella, Ava, Paige, Gabrielle, Brianna, and Ashlynn were the lights of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them, regaling them with stories of his adventures and imparting wisdom garnered from a life well-lived.
In December 2023, Tim underwent open-heart surgery, a procedure that tested his resilience and strength. Though the surgery was successful, his body grew weary from the battle, and on March 9th, 2024, he peacefully slipped away in his sleep with his daughter-in-law, Stephanie, by his side.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Paul & Allen, and is survived by his wife Tammie, 2 children, Tom (Stephanie) & Tiffany (Jon) and 6 granddaughters, Brianna, Ashlynn, Bella, Ava, Paige, and Gabby.
A celebration of Tim's life will be held on Friday, April 5th, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Smith Mortuary in Mulvane, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Guide Dogs of America, a cause close to Tim's heart.
Timothy Jon Anderson will be remembered not only for his strength and resilience but also for his limitless affection, steadfast empathy, and his heart as large as outer space. His influence will endure within the souls of those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him, a tribute to a life richly lived and a spirit profoundly cherished.
