Thomas Richard Scripp

February 24, 1956 — March 27, 2025

Thomas Richard Scripp, 69, retired co-owner of K-15 Auto Sales (formerly K-15 Auto Salvage) passed away on March 27, 2025, after a short battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.

Tom was born Feb 24, 1956 to parents Richard and Marianne in Newark, NJ. The family moved to Waverly, PA, then to Wichita when Tom was in middle school, and finally to Derby, KS in 1970. Tom graduated from Derby High School in 1974, and lived and worked the remainder of his life in the Derby community. Tom never met a stranger, which served him well in his decades in the automotive parts and auto sales business. He had a wide circle of friends, and would run into people he knew wherever he traveled. Tom enjoyed NASCAR, camping, boating at Table Rock Lake and riding his Harley. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, going to their events and watching them enjoy boating and the lake as their dads did.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dennis. He is survived by brother Robert of San Francisco, sons Brad (Jana), Adalyn and Callan of Wichita, and Eric (Brianna), Henley and George, of Leawood, KS; former wife of 35 years, Anna, sister-in-law Jennifer (Paul) Polk, and brother-in-law Jonathan (Dena) Harlan.. The family would like to give a special thanks to Tom’s girlfriend, Gail Mayfield, who was constantly by his side, a great advocate for care during his treatments and long hospital stays, a loving companion and caregiver to the end.

Per Tom’s request he didn’t want a funeral, but rather a FUNeral, a gathering for everyone to come together, laugh and tell stories over a cold one. A Celebration of Life will be held April 26 from 2-5pm at the Pulley Event Center at The Sandbox in Derby, 2412 N Rock Road.
