Thomas J. Nestor

Nestor, Thomas “Tom” J., 80, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014. He was born October 25, 1934 to Tom and Helen (Kane) Nestor in Philadelphia, PA.

Tom retired from the Air Force after 28 years and then continued his service to his country by working as a government representative at Boeing. He enjoyed home projects, landscaping, and the occasional golf game. Tom loved spending time with his family. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Tom is survived by his wife of 60 years, Erika Nestor; children, Christine (Roger) Forrest, Thomas (Christina) Nestor, Jr., and Karin Ashley; grandchildren, Nichole (Alex) Karkins, Brett McCleaf, Kaitlyn Ashley, and Erik Nestor; great-grandchildren, Cotton, Anna, Maks, and Greyson; siblings, Mary Ellen McGovern and William (Theresa) Nestor; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Monday from 1 to 7 pm with family present between 5 and 7 pm. Rosary: 7 pm, Monday. Funeral: 10 am, Tuesday, December 16, 2014; all at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby, KS 67037. Interment to follow at Old Mission Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1820 E. Douglas Ave., Wichita, KS 67214.
