Sylvia Ruth Ramseyer, 80, passed away on June 27, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas.
Sylvia was born in Paris, Arkansas, and grew up in Derby, Kansas. She spent her married life in Rose Hill raising her family and attending her home church. Throughout her life, she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher, Children's Church leader, Vacation Bible School volunteer, Bible study leader, childcare worker, and choir member. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
Sylvia is survived by her daughters, Dianne Ramseyer of Maize, Kansas, and Jennifer Ramseyer of Andover, Kansas; her stepdaughter, Paula Ridder of Kansas City; and her stepson, Rick Ramseyer of Wichita, Kansas.
She is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Ellie Ridder (Michael) Caughron of Kansas City; Keanu (Haley) Castanada of Derby, Kansas; Destiny Ramseyer Sixtos (Jeremy) of Arizona; Ethan (Kelsi) Ramseyer of Kansas City; Brooklyn Ramseyer of Andover, Kansas; Ariana Ramseyer of Wichita; Bronson Ramseyer of Haysville; Ricky Ramseyer (Melanie) of Holt, Missouri; and Cody (Rachel) Ramseyer of Holt, Missouri.
She is further survived by her eleven great-grandchildren: Noah Ramseyer, Madison Ramseyer, Aiden Ramseyer, Isaiah Ramseyer, Chase Ramseyer, Abby Wilson, Caedance Castanada, Brantley Castanada, Felix Sixtos, Leon Sixtos, and Beau Ramseyer.
Additional survivors include her nephew, Jeff Oslander; her niece, Terri Oslander; her cousin, Dennis Riley; and her aunt, Norma Caston.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Ruth Brown; her grandparents, Annie and Carl Caston; her brothers, Jim Brown and Larry Brown; her sister, Barbara Tress Brown; her husband, Paul Ramseyer; her son, Brian Ramseyer; and many beloved uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Faith Church, 888 S. Webb Road, Wichita, Kansas, with Pastor Stephen Luna officiating.
A memorial educational fund is being established for Sylvia's great-grandchildren. Education was very important to her. Memorial contributions may be made by check payable to Jennifer Smith, with "Education" written in the memo line.
Cards and memorial gifts are welcome for the family.
