Steven Dale Smith

Smith, Steven D., 62, retired Boeing/Spirit Expeditor, passed away April 26, 2022, he was born January 8, 1960 in Wichita, KS. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Levita (Wilks) Smith, brother, Gary Smith & sister-in-law Becky. He is survived by brothers, Terry & Rick, niece, Della (Dennis) Shirley, Nephew, Mike & great-nieces Kyndall, Lily and Alex. Steve grew up in Rose Hill, KS where he threw papers for 10 years & played basketball, baseball & football. Basketball was his passion and he was great at it, as he made All-SCKL 1st Team in 1976, 77 & 78 and in 1978 he was named the SCKL MVP. After his career was over he loved watching Shocker basketball, NY Yankees & KC Chiefs, but #1 by far, was WSU basketball- he followed the Shockers to St. Louis, Orlando, FL., KC, Washington, DC, Portland & LA where he watched the Shockers make it to the Final Four (YES!). He retired from Boeing/Spirit after 43 yrs of service. At his request there will be no service- just tip one for old times sake....
