Haysville- Steven Proberts, 78, passed away June 04, 2025. He was born September 19, 1946.


He had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found working in his yard, taking pride in keeping things just right. A lifelong fan of bluegrass music, he especially enjoyed attending the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival, where he made lasting memories with family and friends. An avid RVer, he loved hitting the open road and exploring new places, always ready for the next adventure. After retiring from a long career with Verizon, he continued serving his community through the volunteer fire department and as a reserve officer with the Sumner County sheriff’s department. His passion for helping others extended to radio communications, where he was known for his expertise and willingness to assist whenever needed. He lived with integrity, purpose, and a steady devotion to both his work and community.


He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen Erickson,


Steve is survived by his wife, Jane Proberts; children, Sherrie Mendoza, Kimberly (Terry Sowersby) Proberts, and Angela (Daniel Skinner) Ehrmann; grandchildren, Diego, Jesus, Haley, Nathan, Kaegen, Steven, William, Cheyenne, Dilion, and Dalton.


Visitation: Smith Family Mortuary 1415 N. Rock Rd Derby, KS 67037 on June 07, 2025 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and celebration of life to follow at 10000 S Broadway Peck, KS at 4:00pm
