Former Derby Kansas resident Steven Glenn Grimsley, 50, of Alexandria, VA died unexpectedly on June 28, 2021 in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

Steve was born on July 5, 1970 in Wichita, Kansas and spent his childhood in Derby, Kansas. He later moved to Wichita, Kansas to complete his Bachelors and Masters degree in Elementary Education at Wichita State University. He began his career as a teacher in Derby Kansas and then moved to the Washington DC area and continued his teaching career in Arlington County, Virginia. He loved being a teacher and took pride in helping shape young minds.

Steve is survived by his parents Glenn and Shirley Grimsley of Derby, his brothers Darin Grimsley (Kim) of Wichita and Jeremy Grimsley of Tulsa. He was preceded in death by his sister Crystal Grimsley and his mother Linda Grimsley.

A visitation with Steve's family will be 5-7pm Thursday, July 29, at Smith Mortuary-Derby. Funeral services will be at St. Mary Catholic Church in Derby Friday, July 30, with a Rosary at 10am and Mass at 10:30. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Trevor Project and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
