DOUGLASS – Thomas, Shirley Ann, age 74, loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012. Visitation 1-8pm Sunday, October 7, with family present 4-6pm at Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home, 507 S. Maple, Douglass. Funeral service 2pm Monday, October 8, at the First Baptist Church of Douglass, 107 S. Maple, with interment to follow in Douglass Cemetery. Shirley married Bus Thomas January 29, 1956 in Whitewater, KS. She worked alongside Bus in several different grocery stores in Wichita and the Butler County area for many years before retiring. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Velma Erwin; husband, Bus Thomas; brothers, Charles and Leroy Erwin; daughter-in-law, Liz Thomas. She is survived by her children, Robert Thomas of Dodge City, Chris (Rachel) Thomas of El Dorado, Kathleen Koepcke of Douglass and Cindy Abdallah of Wichita; grandchildren, Angela (Josh) Smith, Kara (Sami) Nabbout, Emily Abdallah, Adam Thomas, Renea Abdallah and Alex Abdallah; great-grandchildren, Kolten McConnell, Addyson Smith, Kinzleigh Smith and Jacob Orr; 4 step grandchildren, 6 step great-grandchildren and 1 step great great-grandaughter; sisters, Susan (Ralph) Ballinger, Bonnie (Rick) Rhodes, and Darlene (Rod) Walford In lieu of flowers memorials have been established with the church or Heartland Hospice 3210 W. Kellogg Drive Wichita, KS 67213.
