Shirley Alice Plush (Lamb-Kopplin)


Shirley Alice Plush, 97 years old, passed away peacefully on Memorial Day morning, May 27, 2024, at her Derby residence, in the presence of her children.


She was born on March 22, 1927, in Yates Center to Richard Lamb Sr. and Alice Cantrell-Lamb. She grew up in Wichita, KS and graduated from North High School in 1945. Shirley married Leo F. Kopplin an U.S. Marine in 1946, shortly before he served in WWII.

Shirley will be remembered for her volunteer efforts in the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary during WWII, she supported and was very proud of the Military family members called to serve. She retired from Safeway and Walmart- Fabrics after 35+ years. Shirley was active in her church at Mulvane United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Her hobbies include sewing, traveling (visiting 49 states), and genealogy.


She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Alice Lamb, four Siblings, (Richard Jr., William, Janice, and Lois) Husbands Leo F. Kopplin and Arland Plush and daughter Kathleen Sutter.

As the Matriarch of a very big family, Shirley is survived by six children (Julie, Irene, Thomas, Leslie, Timothy, and Terry) and will be dearly missed by 18 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren; many In-laws, step, adopted, and friends she loved as family.


All friends and family are welcome to attend the Memorial Services held at Mulvane United Methodist Church, located 107 S. Central St. Mulvane, KS 67110 on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. The Interment will follow the service at Mulvane Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Methodist Church (mulvaneumc.com/giving.cfm) in memory of Shirley A. Plush (Lamb-Kopplin).
