Shirley Faye Belew

December 1, 1932 — April 16, 2025

Shirley Faye Belew passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Maria Court in Mulvane, Kansas. She was born December 1st, 1932, to Emory and LuLu Brownell of Wilsey, Kansas.


She married Everett Belew in Wichita, Kansas. They made their home in Mulvane. They adopted two children: Pamela and David.


Shirley was a member of the Derby Church of the Nazarene where she played the piano and organ on a regular basis. While living in the country in Mulvane, she maintained over an acre garden which she loved to take the vegetables and can quarts of them for her family. Shirley was an amazing cook, but the best thing she made was hamburgers for her son David….if you know, you know.


During her working career she worked primarily for Boeing Aircraft company, although she took off several years to be a cook for the Mulvane School district.


Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett; daughter, Pamela Belew; sisters, Stella Swisher, Irene Roberts, Frances Schlund, Hazel Blaylock and Harriett Dains; brothers, Eldon, Harold and Lester Brownell.


She is survived by her son, David Belew and his wife Lori of Wichita; grandson, Dalton Belew; step-grandsons, Ty (Marisa) Shook and Jody (Brittany) Shook; step-granddaughter, Sammie (Derek) Ramos; 7 step great-grandsons; and sister Helen Hewitt, of Norwich.


A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Smith Mortuary 1415 N. Rock Rd Derby, KS
