Granddaughter's Memory -
On Saturday May 28th, 2016 Mulvane, Kansas got a lot less sassy when we lost Sherry Sue Coppenbarger. She is survived by the love of her life, Ray Coppenbarger, Their three children, four grand children and four great-grand children. My grandma was loved in a way most people can only dream of, for the last 53 years she was the apple of my grandpa's eye. When you watched them together it was almost like a movie,a love like that had to be written. Her husband and her family were her pride, and she loved us fiercely and with no judgment. My grandma had an eye for style that no one could match; she was always ahead of trends and always took them up a notch. She traveled with my grandpa all over the country and took all of the grand children on trips too; she loved to show us all of the things outside of our small Kansas towns. But if there is one thing I will remember most about my grandmother it’s how she always went to bat for what she believed in. When it seemed like when no one else understood she was always there to give a million reasons why we should be proud of who we are. She had her quirk’s, that’s for sure, like the one Christmas she let us all know how much she loved Flava Flave, or when you’d expect her to be watching HGTV but instead she was watching crime shows. (which she loved and could always predict who was guilty within the first five minutes). My grandma was the epitome of love, she was strong and fearless but kind and gentle. I know that she is looking down on all of us now who are so devastated in her wake and she’s saying “Quit your crying and let’s have a party!”
