Sherri Ewertt

January 25, 1961 — February 17, 2023

Sherri Gaye Nichols Ewertt was born in Wichita KS on January 25, 1961 to Otto and Ethlyn Unruh Nichols. She attended school in Wichita, then spent many years in the donut business.


She married Marvin Ewertt on 12/31/88. They entered ministry in the United Methodist Church in July of 1998, and served several churches in Kansas until moving to Texas in 2020. They served for 3 years in Texas before retiring to the Gulf Coast on January 1st, 2023.


Sherri died unexpectedly at Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi on February 17, 2023.


She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Charlene Bottomly, June Fuqua, and brother Sam Nichols. She is survived by her husband Marvin, her children, Sean Ewertt, Brandan Ewertt (Daphney), and Justin Ewertt (Lorraine), and daughter Meagan Phillips (Tracy), her grandchildren D’Ervin and Alyssa Phillips, and Kolder Strube-Ewertt, her sisters Jo George (Bill), Kathy Patterson (Marvin), Laurie Carrell, and brother Scott Nichols (Sissy), sister-in-law Melody Arnold, brothers-in-law Marc Ewertt, and Greg Ewertt (Terri), and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.


A celebration of Sherri's life will take place at Aldersgate United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 25th, at 10:00 am. The family will remain in the Narthex for a time of visitation immediately following the celebration. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Sherri's name to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) through Smith Mortuary.
