Sherill Annette Martens

Martens, Sherill A., 62, passed away on August 15, 2026. She was born in Wichita, Kansas on October 4, 1963, to Shirley (Smith) and William B. Staton.

Sherill was a Decorative Artist (Painter) for over 40 years. Through her art, she made connections and friends from all around the world. She truly loved interacting with children and helping them with craft projects. It filled her heart with joy to see their eyes light up. She had a way to make holidays special, but Halloween and Christmas were her favorite.

She was preceded in death by her father, William B. Staton; mother, Shirley (Smith) Baker; step-father, Roy T. Baker, Sr.; brothers, William D. Staton and Roy T. Baker, Jr. (aka Mikel Staton).

Sherill is survived by her husband Donald Martens; children, Thomas Martens, Sharon (Nick) Watts, Michael Martens; grandchildren, Kinsey Martens, Kelley Martens, Madison Martens, Carter Watts; half-brother, Jesus William Staton; half-sisters, Glenda Durham, Lonetta Maarel, Debra Bird; and adopted sisters, Brenda West and Sommer Staton.

A memorial service will be held at later date in her honor.
