Sheldon F. Cox

Sheldon Francis Cox, 82, passed away Dec. 19, 2020. A memorial service will be at a later date. He was born April 26, 1938 near Coyle, Oklahoma to Westin and Winifred Cox who were pastors at Friends Chapel. He graduated from Vilas, Colorado high school, Friends Bible College Jr. College and Friends University. Sheldon and Elda Ann Thornburg were married in 1959. He pastored Bucklin Bible Church, Homestead Friends Church near Emporia, Oklahoma City Friends Church, Derby Friends Church and was Chaplain at B.G. Products in Wichita for ten years. He also enjoyed serving at Camp Quaker Haven in many capacities for many years. He enjoyed 56 years of ministry before retiring in 2015.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother David. He is survived by his wife Elda Ann, three children, Chad (Kim), Todd (Michelle), Shelda Cay (Darin Kearns), nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, brother Eldon (Gayle) and sister Lynette Farr.

Memorials are established with Barclay College, Haviland , KS and Derby Friends Church.
