Sheila Renae Cairns

Sheila Brock Cairns, age 66, of Park City, KS, passed away Friday, September 11, after a brief illness.

Sheila was born June 1, 1960, to Dean and Melva Brock in Storm Lake, Iowa. She graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1978 and earned a B.A. in Communications at Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska, where she met her future husband.

Sheila and Bruce Cairns married July 23, 1983, and made their first home in Colorado. She had a varied career, culminating in executive leadership in three not-for profit organizations. She was passionate about improving the lives of children in difficult circumstances and supporting victims of DUI.

Sheila’s interests and activities included choral singing, sketching and drawing, hiking, and gardening. She will always be remembered for her warm and caring heart, beautiful singing voice, radiant smile, and flaming red hair.

Sheila is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bruce Cairns; double cousins with whom she shared a special bond Denise Harding (Phil Becker) and Dave Brock (Rhonda); brother-in law Robert Cairns (Sue); sister-in-law Ann Cairns (Larry Bangs), and a large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Friday, September 18, at 2:00 pm at St. Mary Orthodox Christian Church in Wichita, with a reception following. Interment will take place Monday, September 21, 10:00 am at the Storm Lake Municipal Cemetery, Storm Lake, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sheila’s memory may be made to The Bridge of Storm Lake.
