Shawn Gales

Gales, Shawn Thomas, 37, passed away on January 20, 2026. He was born to Thomas Gales and Michelle Corpening on April 19, 1988, in Wichita, Kansas.

Shawn had a passion for sports, playing and watching baseball and football. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and bull riding in his free time.

He was preceded in death by uncles, Eugene Gales and Hugh Haller; grandparents, Madge Overpeck, Ray Overpeck, Shirley Hay, and Gene Gales.

Shawn is survived by his son, Jordan Gales; parents, Michelle (Dean) Corpening, and Thomas Gales; sister, Melissa (Brandon) Hancock; aunts and uncles, Ellen Stanford, Tina Gales, Connie Barron, Carl (Karen) Haller, Peter Haller, and Sallie Hunt; niece and nephew, Madison and Foster Hancock.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Smith Family Mortuary – Haysville, with visitation one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Union Rescue Mission Shelter, 2800 N. Hillside, Wichita, Kansas 67219.
