Sharon E. Pickett, 82, passed away on July 8, 2026. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on June 12, 1944, to Louis and Violet Knowles.
Sharon loved her family deeply and shared an especially close bond with her sisters throughout her life. She treasured her relationship with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. She was fun-loving and had a contagious laugh that everyone remembered and loved. In her later years, she became a true ray of sunshine, and friends often commented on the joy, warmth, and positivity she brought wherever she went.
She found great happiness in traveling, especially to the mountains. The Smoky Mountains held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every opportunity to spend time there. Sharon also loved to sing and was blessed with a beautiful voice. She and her twin sister, Shirley, enjoyed singing together at the various churches they attended over the years, sharing their love of music and faith with others.
As a child, Sharon worked alongside her sisters helping with the family garden. Together, they stripped saplings to make furniture, creating memories that reflected the strong work ethic and close family bonds they shared.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Pickett; daughter, Stephanie Pickett; parents, Louis and Violet Knowles; sister, Patricia Knowles-Rauch; and brother, Eddie Knowles.
Sharon is survived by her son, Thomas "Buddy" Pickett; twin sister, Shirley Mixon; sister, Bobbie Van Huss; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Sharon's warmth, laughter, beautiful singing voice, and love for her family will be treasured and remembered by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Smith Family Mortuary, 7031 S. Broadway, Haysville, Kansas 67060.
