Serena M. Clasen, of Mulvane, age 86, homemaker, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012. Visitation with family present 5-7 PM Tuesday, with Recitation of the Rosary starting at 7 PM, Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Wednesday, all at St. Michael Catholic Church, 545 E. Main, Mulvane. Interment will follow the Mass at Red Bud Catholic Cemetery, rural Udall. Serena is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Clasen, Jr.; son, Paul; parents, Ben & Irene Mertes; and a brother, Lawrence “Pinky” Mertes. Survivors include: sons, Larry, Borden, IN, Bob (Debbie), John (Kathy), all of Udall, and Tom (Vicki), of Belle Plaine; brothers, Cletus, Clem, and Bernard Mertes, all of Wichita, and Marvin Mertes, of Houston, TX; sisters, Mervine Nett, of Anaheim, CA, Meraldine Little, of Wichita, Evelyn Thomas, of Little Rock, AR, and Bernetta Butler, of Washington; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
