Sandra “Sue” Miller passed peacefully at home in Derby on February 26th 2024. Born in 1941 to Earnest and Evelyn Solomon, Sue lived well. Survived by her husband, Jack Miller; the couple married in August 1957, raised two accomplished daughters, Cindy (Vic), and Connie (Randy), and were devoted to each other for 66 years – no matter how much Sue lovingly teased Jack, he chose her as his Valentine every February, and every day. A talented seamstress, being a daughter to Sue meant modeling her latest, often matching, garments. To her daughters, Sue passed down her love of shopping, music, and holidays. Jack and Sue were partners: from the troubles and triumphs of everyday life, to anniversary trips to Hawaii, to designing their dream retirement home, they built their lives with gratitude and humility. With her five grandchildren, Sue shared her smile, constant love, affinity for Oreos, and sense of humor. Stephanie (Damon), Courtleigh (Meg), Christopher (Alli), Amanda (Jeff), and Kathryn (Steven) will remember her compassionate nature, and will miss her hugs. Sue excitedly welcomed her three great-granddaughters, Eilis, Zoey, and Fynly, and delightedly took on her role as “GG.” As with her children and grandchildren, for the new generation, Sue happily presided over tea parties, co-parented baby dolls, and watched quirky children’s shows.
The matriarch of the family, Sue will be dearly missed. While her body rests, her spirit remains in her family’s hearts and souls. They will live reassured that she spread kindness in the world, will remember her laughter as she played a draw-four Uno card on Jack; and, will treasure the beauty she instilled in their lives.
From the family: To our wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, with love, we wish you peace.
