Ruth Lucile Ulrich

Ruth L. Ulrich of Udall, KS passed away on Dec. 26, 2020 at LakePoint Living in Augusta, KS where she had resided since June.

Ruth was born to Emma (Ragland) and Roy Warhurst in Newton, KS on Nov. 18, 1925. She attended school in Newton and later received her GED to complete her high school education. She married Clayton Schanbacher on Nov. 22, 1942. They lived in Wichita where Clayton ran a business Clayton's Frame and Alignment. In 1956 they move with their three children Ruth Ann, Harold, and Dan to a farm near Udall, KS. Ruth continued to help Clayton at his business in Wichita by keeping the books. Ruth and Clayton began working at NCR as night security guards. After Clayton's passing in 1984, Ruth continued to work at NCR. Ruth married co-worker Henry Ulrich in 1987. Henry passed Dec. 31, 2000.

Ruth was a member of the Udall United Methodist Church. She later attended Faith Lutheran Church, Derby, KS with Henry. She was a member of the Udall Senior Citizens and Udall Cooperettes. She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, piecing quilt tops, playing pitch with the senior citizen and her family members. She enjoyed family get togethers and going out to lunch with friends.

In addition to her parents and six siblings, Ruth was preceded in death by her two husbands, son Dan two great grandchildren. Her family includes daughter Ruth Ann Schwind, Cedar Creek, TX, Harold (Janet) Schanbacher, of Udall and daughter-in-law Phyllis Schanbacher, Wichita. Grandchildren Leroy Schwind Jr., Kelli (Terry) Wilkerson, David (Trish) Schanbacher, Allen Schanbacher, Wendy Maxwell, Lisa Schanbacher, George (Erica) Schwind and Amy (Caleb) Guinn, 15 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren and many Warhurst and Schanbacher nephews and nieces.

The grandchildren will be acting as casket bearers in honor of their grandmother.

COVID regulations for facial covering and social distancing are required.

Visitation time will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday Jan. 1, 2021 at Smith Family Mortuary in Mulvane.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021 also at Smith Mortuary in Mulvane.
