Ruth A Franklin

Wichita -Ruth A Franklin 86, died Thursday, October 5, 2023. She was born August 31, 1937 to Melvin Dear and Vina Dear in Wichita, Kansas.

She worked many years in woman’s shoe sales and was well known for her expertise in women’s footwear and enjoyed fitting the perfect shoe with a high end look. She went on to work at Wescon products and Star Lumber before retiring. At her senior living retirement complex, many residents knew her as the night relief monitor where she helped with after hour lockouts and calling emergency services for fellow residence. She enjoyed attending events at the center as well as shopping at local thrift stores looking for treasures. She enjoyed collecting angels and spent time crocheting doilies to share with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Cleora Pickering and son-in-law Edward Pitcher.

Ruth is survived by her two daughters Donna F. (Willis) Mollett & Katherine Pitcher, along with a son Richard Franklin. Sister Shirley Van Gilst, brothers, Duane M. (Jane) Dear, Russell H. (Rhonda) Dear.

7 grandchildren; Sheila (Chris) Gilstrap, Rick Clark, Diana Rooney, Paul (Emily) Rooney, Zachary Mollett, Caleb Mollett, Holden Mollett. 10 great-grandchildren; Kyle Gilstrap, Kameron Gilstrap, Kaylee Gilstrap, Lily Seavey, Nolan Butler, Lennon Rooney, Jameson Rooney, Emma Howard, Peyton Howard and Kane Clark.

Interment will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Wichita, Kansas. Service will be held on Thursday October 12th at 5:00 pm at Calvary Chapel West Wichita at 2223 S Maize Rd in Wichita Kansas. Officiated by Paster Bryan Smith.

In lieu of flowers] memorial contributions may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Kansas Humane Society.
