Ruth Ann Bond

November 13, 1931 — July 17, 2024

Ruth Ann (Compton) Bond, 92, of Augusta, KS entered God's presence on July 17, 2024. She was born in Pawhuska, OK to Thomas and Lillian Compton on Nov 13, 1931.

Ruth and her family moved to Neosha falls when she was young and eventually to Wichita, KS. Ruth attended the Wichita schools, graduating from East High School in 1951. Ruth was very proud of being an East High Ace and stayed in touch with many of her classmates. After graduation Ruth worked at Indian Hills shoe store as a cashier and sales person for 2 years. Ruth then went to work for Southwestern Bell in 1953 as a telephone operator. During her tenure there she worked in several other departments including traffic and engineering.

Ruth met her future husband at church, Larry Bond, and they were united in marriage on June 7th, 1954 in Wichita, KS at True Church of the Firstborn. To this union they had one son, Leslie Bond, in 1960. Unable to have anymore children, Ruth and Larry adopted Charity and Daniel in 1970 from Korea and later added Rita, as Charity wanted a sister. Ruth loved her family a great deal and she has enjoyed watching them grow and adding grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ruth retired from southwestern Bell in 1994 (after quitting twice and taking 3 leave of absences). Ruth and Larry loved to travel and have been to Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Austria, Canada, and Mexico as well as every United State. They bought a camper and joined the Good Sam's Club making many new friend's, have done volunteer work, and in Ruth's words, “Ate out way too much!” After having a quadruple bypass surgery, Ruth joined the YMCA and went to a swim class weekly to stay fit and was active in TOPS for awhile as well. However, Ruth's biggest love in her life was the Lord. She was active in church activities her whole life and continued to go to church up until 6 months before her death. She always said, “Just leave it in God's hands.” She spent many nights reading her bible and studying scriptures.

Ruth will be greatly missed and leaves behind an indelible legacy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ruth is preceded in death by husband, Larry Bond, son, Daniel Bond, and great-granddaughter, Ellie Young. She is survived by her son, Leslie Bond (Bobbie), daughters, Charity Carr (David) and Rita Taylor (David) and 11grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
