Ruby E. Rowan

BELLE PLAINE – Rowan, Ruby E., age 99, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012 in Wichita, KS. She was born October 7, 1912 in Perth, KS the daughter of the late Cornelius and Margaret (Doramus) Wilson. On August 6, 1930 she married Boyd Rowan in Wellington, KS he preceded Ruby in death in 1993. Ruby was a cook and a member of the Rebekkah Lodge, VFW Auxiliary, and the United Methodist Women. She was also won the Citizen of the year in Belle Plaine.

Survivors include a son Delberyt Rowan of Westminster, CO; two daughters Velma Widick of Broken Arrow, OK and Donna Mae Thomas of Belle Plaine, KS; a sister Stella Siehndel of Topeka, KS; 25 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and 27 great great grandchildren. Ruby was preceded in death by two sons Boyd Wayne, and Gary Lee Rowan and 4 grandsons.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Hatfield Smith Funeral Home, 219 W. 2ND, Belle Plaine, KS 67013 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Monday, February 6, at 10 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Belle Plaine. Burial in the Belle Plaine Cemetery. Memorials have been established with the First United Methodist Church of Belle Plaine Roof Fund, 124 East 10th St., Belle Plaine, KS 67013.
