90, passed away Tuesday, September 10th, 2024. He was born October 31st, 1933 to Charles Tillery and Neta Beason Tillery in Malvern, Arkansas.


Gene worked as an aircraft manufacturing engineer in Wichita, Kansas until the age of 65, and then enjoyed retirement for the past 25 years.


Gene enjoyed fishing, hunting, hockey, boating, riding motorcycles, Arkansas Razorbacks football, and spending time with family.


Preceded in death by his mother Neta Tillery, father Charles Tillery, brother J.B. Tillery, sister Helen McWhorter (Joe), sister Sally Robertson (Fonzy), sister Floy Tanner (Raymond), sister Dorothy Chandler (Paul), wife Paula Tillery, and son Chris Tillery.


Survived by his sister-in-law, Allene Tillery; son, Ron Tillery (Sheryl); daughter, Kim Cummins (Jamie); son, James Erwin (Gaye); grandsons, Kyle Tillery and Sean Erwin (Sarah); granddaughters, Megan Cummins, Lyndsey Cummins and Amanda Guthrie (Mitch); along with several great-grandchildren.


Visitation: Thursday, September 19th, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral Service: 1:00 pm, Friday, September 20th, 2024 both at Smith Mortuary, 1415 North Rock Road Derby, Kansas 67037. Interment to follow at El Paso Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association
