Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday March 19th, at Douglass Cemetery. Douglass Cemetery is located east of Douglass, Kansas on 8th St. (Butler County SW 215th St). Burial site is in the first addition on the north side of the road.
Roxie Sue Frans was born February 8, 1926 in rural Butler County, Kansas near Magna City to John and Elizabeth Frans. On May 2, 1944 she was united in marriage to Sidney Richard "Dick" Olmstead in Wichita, Kansas. To this union four children were born.
Roxie was reared in Butler County, Kansas. After her marriage she resided where Dick's employment required in Russell, Kansas; Hill City, Kansas; Ellis, Kansas and Beaver, Oklahoma. She was a stay-at-home mom for fifteen years and then returned to the work place as a secretary and insurance agent. After Dick's retirement, they moved to Augusta, Kansas in 1983. Upon Dick's death she moved to Sheridan, Wyoming to be closer to her daughter Sherry Nelson. She followed Sherry
to Boise, Idaho in 2012, where she resided at the time of her death.
Roxie accepted Christ as her Savior on December 18, 1949 while living in Russell, Kansas and was a member of multiple churches during her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Sidney Richard Olmstead; son, David Richard Olmstead; a great-grandson, Conner Michael Cleary; and three sisters, Sybol Hudson, Eva Mae Barnes and Dorothy Hatfield.
She leaves to mourn a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Tom Nelson of Eagle, Idaho; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Susie Olmstead of Canyon Lake, California and Mark and Sharon Olmstead of Derby, Kansas; ten grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
