Roslyn G. Hoch died peacefully and was welcomed by heavenly family and friends on the first day of Autumn, September 23, 2011. Dementia did not lessen the loving care she received at home from her husband Phil. She was born in Indianapolis on September 18, 1934 to Wade J. and Florence (Cunningham) Gunckel, whose work as an Electrical Engineer moved her family westward. On March 26, 1953 she wed a handsome sailor, Philip E. Hoch, in Bremerton, WA. They settled into married life in Wichita, where she enjoyed homemaking and varied activities which included recreation therapist, florist, radio personality, movie film extra, 10 years with the local chapter of Victorian Society in America which established the Skinner-Lee House Museum and 35 years as a volunteer re-enactor with Old Cowtown Museum. She was a charter member of the Cowtown Social Club, also dancing the Can-Can on her 50th birthday, and waltzing her way into golden years with Phil. She is survived by her husband of the home; daughters Cynthia “Candy” Wasser (Scott) of Ottawa, KS and Elaine K. Hoch of Lawrence, KS; grandson Nicholas W. Wasser (Brianna) of Seattle, WA, granddaughters Katie B. Wasser of Ottawa, KS and Emily R. Gibby (Seth) of Auburn, AL; sister Linda Hugg of Citrus Heights, CA. Preceded in death by grandson L.Cpl. Christopher B. Wasser, USMC. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Friday September 30th at Turnverein Hall in Cowtown, 1865 W. Museum Blvd. Memorial Service will be 2pm, Saturday, October 1st, at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca. In lieu of flowers, tributes may be made to Old Cowtown Museum or Heartland Hospice.
