Mattox, Rosemary A., 83, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014. She was born January 3, 1931, on the family farm in Neosho County, Kansas to Raymond and Ruth (Hunt) Sharp. Rosemary married Harold James Mattox on November 3, 1950 in Erie, KS. They moved to Derby in 1956 where she was an original member of First Christian Church. Rosemary worked as a librarian for the Derby Public Library, St. Francis School of Nursing, and St. Francis Hospital. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, sewing & quilting, reading, spending time with family & friends, and entertaining at her cabin on the Ninnescah River. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold James “Jim” Mattox; sister, Naomi Bradshaw; and brother, Howard Sharp. Rosemary is survived by her children, Sharon M. Mattox and her husband, D. Craig Olivier of Houston, TX, and J. David Mattox and his wife, Kristina K. Mattox of Manhattan, KS; grandchildren, Jeremy Alan Olivier and Zachary James Olivier; siblings, Carol Ruth Richardson, G. Jay Sharp, and Lowell R. Sharp; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: Monday, 1 to 8 pm with family present from 6 to 8 at Smith Family Mortuary of Derby. Funeral: 11 am, Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at South Rock Christian Church, 900 S. Rock Rd, Derby, KS 67037. Interment to follow at El Paso Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Derby Public Library, 1600 E. Walnut Grove, Derby, KS 67037.
