Rosalie Ann Hopkins Elston, born April 13, 1932, passed peacefully surrounded by her family June 1,
2021. Rosalie was born in Aberdeen, Maryland, to William D. and Ethel Belle Holloway Hopkins. She
graduated from Havre de Grace High School in 1949. She married Raymond LaVerne Elston in Aberdeen
July 24, 1954.
Rosalie had an extensive career as an administrative assistant for the Mulvane School District and
Boeing Military Aircraft Company before retiring in 1990. She was very active in the Mulvane United
Methodist Church choir for many years and was a member of PEO Chapter BP in Wichita.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers William Hopkins and Graeme Hopkins; sister Pauline
Moxley; and her beloved husband of 59 years. Rosalie is survived by son Loren (Kathy) of Kimberling
City, Missouri; son Scott (Christine) of Lawrence, Kansas; daughter Kimberly (Dane) of Wamego, Kansas;
and son Gary (Lynn) of Mulvane, Kansas. She has 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and
numerous friends and acquaintances.
Visitation is Friday, June 4, from 5 - 8 p.m., at Smith Mortuary in Mulvane. A celebration of life will be
held Saturday, June 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the Mulvane United Methodist Church, followed by a graveside
gathering at Mulvane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials have been established with the Mulvane
