Ronnie G. Carpenter

January 27, 1947 — March 13, 2017

On March 13, 2017, Ronnie G. Carpenter (age 70) went ahead into our heavenly home to await his family. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Wanda (Dooling) Carpenter, his brother, Lonnie Carpenter, his sisters Aleta Carpenter and six angel grandbabies. Ronnie is survived by his wife, Glenda Carpenter, children: Michael Carpenter (companion Misty Bass), April Luina (Carpenter), Christy Werth (Carpenter) (husband Travis Werth), Carla Jackson (Carpenter) (husband Cullen Jackson), Calena Lusk (Carpenter) (companion David Rast): 20 grandchildren: Ronnie Carpenter, Sierra Swenson, Keetland Lusk, Austin Lusk, Cayden Jackson, Cale Jackson, Kitrick Jackson, Kyler Jackson, Brayden Werth, Abigail Lusk, Cara Werth, and Nicholas Luina and many great grandchildren. Ronnie also left behind his brother Riley Carpenter (wife Linda), sisters Leadean Dickerson (husband Carl), Kathy Johnson (husband Gary), Alesia (Denny) Wheeler, and his brother and sister in laws David Mitchell (wife Connie), Soni Johnson (husband Gene) and Danny Mitchell (wife Jenny). Ronnie worked at Diamond Engineering for over 40 years; retiring just 5 years ago. Ronnie started his career at Diamond as a line ditch digger working his way to becoming Vice President prior to his retirement. Many of his co-workers “affectionately” knowing him as Oscar the Grouch. Ronnie loved working in the garage; spending time on his 55 Chevy Bel Aire, or on one of his children’s vehicles. Ronnie loved working outside and could often be found outside in his garden watching his vegetables grow. He loved spending time with family and could be found at the lake, camping, boating and fishing with them. Ronnie’s most treasured possession was his family. He was always available to help out with any need; no matter how big or small, day or night. His celebration of life will be Friday, March 17th at 2:00pm at Smith Family Mortuary in Haysville. Please feel free to wear your Chiefs attire to support his family team: Go Chiefs!
